I might want to get a cosmetology license, but I want to know how I can get a feel for a career in cosmetology before I pay a TON of money for school. Do salons have internships or volunteer hours for people who just want to know what it's all about? Is there a way I can get a feel for a career as a hair stylist?

Anyone a hair stylist and knows a product or products that is best used for deep hair conditioning treatments?
Salon quality ?Anyone a hair stylist and knows a product or products that is best used for deep hair conditioning treatments?
I am unfortunately not a hair stylist, but I find that Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment works verrrrry nicely. Has a tabacco-ey smell though, if you don't mind that, then it's quite nice. You can find it at Sephora.
You could also try Infusium-23 Which i've used, they have a leave-in treatment, and is a bit cheaper than the stuff at Sephora.
If you really want to get a professionals opinion, try going to your salon (or A salon) and just ask someone. They'll be happy to help.Anyone a hair stylist and knows a product or products that is best used for deep hair conditioning treatments?
i agree with the ojon mentioned above, its super coditioning. do visit sephora.com and check out the frederic fekkai line of conditioners, theyre quite amazing
im not a stylist either. but i have had damaged hair, and i have found that the pantene restoratives hair mask works very well.. ive used alot of things on my hair, and this is one of the better products.. and its affordable

My hair is parted on the side, why do hair stylist's cut it longer on one side of the part?
I have had 2 different people cut it this way. It is annoying because if your part does not fall into place as when it was cut, the longer pieces go on the other side and look ridiculous. My hair is parted on the side, why do hair stylist's cut it longer on one side of the part?
My hair is doing that too, and it doesnt want to stay on the other side of my head, its so freakin annoying! My hair is parted on the side, why do hair stylist's cut it longer on one side of the part?
That is the stylist fault...they will tell you different but it is....next time you go in make a point to part your hair yourself and tell them that is how you always part it...this way it will be the same when you style it...if they get offended or mad then find another salon to go to.....the hair will fall right if it is cut to your style but if it is cut where they part it or think you part it then it will not fall right....they should be ok with this...i actually have people to do this before i cut their hair that way they are happy when they get home

Is it true that the hair stylist will have to cut my hair shorter in order for side bangs?
I have long hair and i want side bangs to go with it but my friends say that the hair stylists will cut your whole head of hair shorter to get side bangs and i don't want that. I want to have long hair with side bangs so is it really true that the stylist will have to cut my hair in order to have side bangs? Is it true that the hair stylist will have to cut my hair shorter in order for side bangs?
I am a stylist and i could do it without cutting all of your hair... its not hard if you know what your doing. I work at JCPennys hair salon.
the style looks better with some layers but i had mine just like what you discribed for years and just got some layers cut into mine.Is it true that the hair stylist will have to cut my hair shorter in order for side bangs?
No that isn't true! I have a friend with hair that goes down to her bottom and she has side bangs. It's more common with shorter hair but it will look fine. My only suggestion is to get layers when you get them cut. My hair stylist cuts my layers to fit with my bangs.
usually the stylist will just cut a section of hair about 5 in. wide to create sidebangs which really isnt that much. you can also ask the stylist to give you less bangs which will mean less hair being cut.
Nope I have Miley Cyrus length hair and have side bangs believe it or not it looks better the longer the hair is.
No..She'll only cut your bangs.

Where in NYC are good hair stylist for ethnic hair?
I am looking for someone who is very experienced with the scissors and familiar with coarse, kinky african american hair. I want it to be permed, colored and cut and to be professional. Not look like i went to someones dimly lit basement.Where in NYC are good hair stylist for ethnic hair?
Oh, you must want corn rolls, or dreads. Try ';Tamika Jacksons'; on Lexington in the Bronx.

What do i tell the hair stylist to make my hair scene/emo? im a boy?
what do i tell the barber? However, he is accustomed to cutting and shaping traditional hair, none that is popular today. where should i go and how should i tell them what to do?What do i tell the hair stylist to make my hair scene/emo? im a boy?
Just find a picture that has the kind of hairstyle you want and show it to him.
Good Luck! What do i tell the hair stylist to make my hair scene/emo? im a boy?
Don't do what alot of people do and sit down and tell him you just want an emo cut. It happens alot. :) The point of an emo/scene cut is to look different then anyone else, and he cant read minds.
Google pictures, print them, take them. Go into alot of detail about what you want, in terms of length, texture, etc. Use your hands to show length, and push your hair around to show him the directions you want it to go
Tell him you want alot of texture and tell him to be creative, it may not be that bad.
I would suggest going to a more stylish salon like Tony %26amp; Guy for example as they would do it better. Barbers wouldn't be able to do it as well, as they stick to traditional cuts. Take a picture with you of what you want it to look like and if it goes wrong, u can just cut it short and grow it back :)
here's a picture that you will like and
try to print it or something that will show
