How does a hair stylist thin out hair (she uses some tool that makes me cringe a little bit)?

It was as if she was using scissors and my hair was a curling ribbon. I dunno, it was weird.

How do they do it?

Also, will she do it on all of my hair if I ask? I want my hair to be thinner- is that the only solution? How does a hair stylist thin out hair (she uses some tool that makes me cringe a little bit)?
they're texturizing scissors.

don't be afraid of them..

just tell her you want your hair thinned a little all throughout.

the stylist will know what you're talking about. How does a hair stylist thin out hair (she uses some tool that makes me cringe a little bit)?
I know what your talking about. I dont know what its called but its like one side of a scissor and she like swipes it down your hair. My hairstylist always does that to my bangs. Dont worry its nothing major it just takes like a thin layer off ur hair
THERE ARE THINNING SHEARS, A RAZOR, AND TEXTERIZING WITH SCISSORS. YES IT LOOKS CRAZY WHILE ITS HAPPENING BUT IT GETS THE JOB DONE iF U WANT UR HAIR THINNER SPEAK WITH UR STYLIST AND CONVEY WHAT U WANT!!!
they always do it on all of your hair... It is the only solution.
