Hi, my name is Arnold and I live in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. I wanna learn how to cut hair, because I want to in a barbershop. Do I need to takes classes??? And how long it's going to take? How long it takes to become a hair stylist?
Yes, you will need to go to beauty school, unless you can apprentice. An apprentice will work in the salon for a few years, and learn everything there. You still need to take a test to get a license.
Last time I checked you need 1200 school hours for cosmetology in New Jersey. You would have to contact the State Board for changes. If you stay consistent, you can get your hours done in a year or less.
You will also have to take a written and practical test at the end of your 1200 hours to acquire a license.
Hope that helps! How long it takes to become a hair stylist?
You usually need at least 1200 hours of training. So I'd say it'll probably take 1-2 years until you finish all the hours to become a hair stylist.
