What should I tell the hair stylist to do?

I want to cut my hair like Amanda Bynes in Sydney White. You know, the way how her hair is all layerly like and when she puts it in a pony tail, there's still hair that falls down. How should I tell the hair lady to do it? Layers? I've tried but the lady just cut it in regular layers that goes throughout your hair and is nothing like hers.
