What is the best way to build a client book as a starting hair stylist?

You should put an ad in the local newspaper and advertise that walk ins are welcome. Have business cards made and give them to all of your walk ins and the clients that you already have. Also, when someone gets a hair cut, color, perm or anything, ask them if they would like to go ahead and schedule their next appointment. Also, the salon that you start working at has alot to do with getting clients. Make sure they have a good reputation. You can also offer to do your family and friends hair for the cost of the products and not charge them labor. That way, your styles get out there and when they get compliments they can suggest you. I hope this helps! What is the best way to build a client book as a starting hair stylist?
I would host a '; come meet me'; type open house, have some refreshments (keep it simple) and offer beauty tips or maybe even cuts and styling for a cheaper rate. The key is to meeting the community and let them see what kind of stylist you are, hopefully one that will take their time and offer suggestions for appropriate styles.

Make sure you advertise in the local paper and maybe hand out flyers if you do the open house!
