I have to say that I choose a stylist that I have seen do both hairstyles on both races and know what she's doing? And my hairstylist that I have now does both races. I do have to admit that my first intuition would be to lean toward a black hairstylist because they know ';our'; hair type and texture. And from past experience, they understand more the style that we want and the look. Like if I asked for a ';Doobie Wrap'; or a ';Quick Weave'; some white hair stylist don't know what I'm talking about, but a black stylist would and would do it right. I have a pixie cut and I went to two white beauticians and asked for a trim down on the tapered part of my hair and they cut my hair line to far up and it was almost to my ears. A black stylist know the look, how far up the line is supposed to be on the neck, and how it's supposed to lay down and be cut around the edges. Just like there's a certain look that white women like to have that a white stylist is more familiar with. I'm not saying that I wouldn't NEVER go back to a white stylist, but I'd have to have seen her work on a black woman's hair and it look right for me to go back to one.Do you choose your hair stylist based on race?
no !!!
Really it doesn't matter to me. If it is a black woman getting ready to do it I would simply ask if she had experience with my hair. If she did, then it wouldn't bother me. If she didn't, then I would go somewhere else.
some people only have white people do their hair because the textures are different, but i don't care because if they went to beauty school they should be familiar with all hair types!
I am black and I have a black hairstylist relax and curl my hair. But a white girl color/high lites my hair and I am picky but the race really doesnt matter.
I had that same issue when i moved to ohio. i just asked the woman when i made the appointment if she had ever worked with my hair type before. if they havent had much experience, i say never mind, if they know what they are doing, its cool!
I'm white but usually I just walk in and look at whoever is doing someone else's hair the best and ask for them. I find it that black and japanese woman/men do hair better. Race doesn't matter.
No it depends on how good they do hair
I am black and personally i would only let a black person do my hair only becuase i would feel as though they would be better prepared to handle me because they would know more about how to handle my hair because they are of the same race.
But don't get me wrong i would go to a stylist of another race if they are good and could handle my needs
I live in Los Angeles, I prefer a black hairdresser to do my hair. I've tried other races and they could not press hair correctly or do certain hair styles.
For my hair no, I do not care. But for my son yes, he is bi-racial and from experience the best haircuts he's received are from black barbers.
I am Latina and whoever is good at cutting my stick straight, without leaving it crooked or messed up, I will go to. Doesn't matter if they are Asian, Hispanic or Black... An Asian cuts my hair and a Black colors it.. It all looks good at the end. So race doesn't matter at all, unless the person is an ignorant racist.
NOT AT ALL!!!! That is really stupid if someone does! Every color of person is the same kind. God made it so their are different colors but everyone is the same! Maybe some people think they do things weird at first, but thats just their culture. I will never be racist!
nope
The last sentence.
it's sometimes a good idea to pick a hairdresser with hair similar to yours in thickness and texture....if you have fine, thin hair it's not a bad idea to pick a stylist who also has fine, thin hair...reason being that it will be the hair type she is most familiar with as she styles her hair every day......i would definately go to a black hairdresser, but if i were black i probably would not go to a white hairdresser....because most white people are grossly uneducated in dealing with ethnic hair
