I always tip 20% for my own hair services and $5 for my son's haircuts. If you have several children use the 20% rule. Stylists that work with kids often work harder at their job than stylists that work with adults. Would you pay the dentist or doctor less just because he was performing his services on a child? Not tipping is rude unless the services were terrible. In that case, I'm talking about an unfixable haircut or an extremely rude hairdresser, NOT having to wait in a long line or other things that are beyond their control.
Oh yes yes yes you should tip!! I use to do hair, keep in mind the stylist only gets %40 of the total bill you pay, not to mention taxes, insurance, etc. I think at the minimum you should give $3 for each cut. It sounds like a lot (maybe), but it is way harder to cut a kids hair than it is an adult.
