Can your hair stylist make a difference in your day?

I'm going to be a hair stylist in about a year and my goal is not only to make people feel better about their appearence, but also to maybe impact their day in a positive way with conversation and personality. I was wondering if you were getting your hair done would you think it would be unprofessional and inappropriate for your hairstylist to ask personal questions and talk about their personal lives? I love to give advice and make people laugh.

What would you think if you were in my chair?Can your hair stylist make a difference in your day?
I have been doing hair a long time and my customers have become my bestfriends... I don't know what I would do without them... at chrsitmas i come home each day in december with gifts and food... over the years we have had kids... buried parents... had surgeries...divorced husband... bought homes... lost jobs... we have shared all the ups and downs... I have donehair in their homes... hen they were in the hospital and even when they were in their coffins... the things we have went through together... it is ends less... the world you will create for yourself as a hairdresser is all up to you... you talk with your clients cause that is all you have to do while you rodding a perm or waiting for color to process... and there are the few that want to keep it on a professional level and you will get the hint and you treat them accordingly... I would love to be your first customer... it is nice to see anyone eager to jump into the new world that is aheadof them that they have created... I wish you the very best of luck... I could write so much more...Can your hair stylist make a difference in your day?
i don't think its any of the hair stylist business to know there customers personal life..well at least not if you don't know them like if there your usual customer then i think its fine....i think giving advise is a great idea cause like ..I'm sure they wanna save money on having to go to stylist and asking them to do there hair but if you give them advice then i think they would appreciate it
Ive been a hairdresser for a long time and i find that most people want to chat with their stylist (in fact sometimes they give you way TMI about stuff you never wanted to hear LOL) Just make an effort to stay away from the big nonos....Religion politics sex etc....if a customer insists on discussing one of these topics give short nondescript answers on nod and smile...and if someone is talkin smack on someone else dont get in on it....shake youre head say ';wow'; or ';geez!'; or ';that sucks'; but never partake in bashing that person, it will just end up against you later...like when ';Grandma roller set forgives her daughter for wrecking the car'; you will be a lot less likely to be making that blue hair curl again if you called her daughter an ';ungreatful brat'; than if you said ';Wow, that stinks'; or ';My gosh, nobody was hurt were they?';
I would def love to have that type of hair stylist that would be amazing. Just make sure you dont sudently ask people personal stuff cause they would talk crap or be rude, so it slowly or you can start by talking about your personal experiences.

good luck =)
um compliments are nice, advice too, and conversation would be cool but don't get too personal or they'll get freaked out cause they never met u.

also if they crack up too much they might move and u might mess up
of course if shes a hair stylist that means she is doin her best to make you very beautiful. And dont worry she wouldnt be doing something like that she's a hair stylist not a historian. lol
no i liek when they tlk it makes me less nervous i te when they just sit there it is boring lol i hope u tlk alot jk just have fun
I pretend to sleep so they will be quiet.
you are going to be one amazing hairdresser! Good luck!
