I have a few questions regarding tipping your hair stylist:
1) Is it better to include the tips in your bill, or is it better to pass the money to the service provider directly?
2) If I am to pass the money directly to the service provider, is there a particular way to do so? For example, do the bills have to be folded in a certain way? Do I have to shake the person's hand while passing the money to him/her? What words should I utter while doing so?
Thanks!!How to pass tip money to your hair stylist?
If you think everyone should follow the law and pay appropriate taxes on income earned, then tip on the credit card slip just like you would at a restaurant.
If you think your stylist should be able to evade taxes on a significant portion of his/her income, then tip in cash.
I would suggest folding the bill(s) in half and simply handing them to the stylist while saying ';thank you.'; She/he is accustomed to receiving tips and will look for your cue. It's nothing to be bashful about. How to pass tip money to your hair stylist?
Giving a tip to a service provider such as a hairdresser is not a secretive or sneaky thing. You must be thinking of the old movie cliche about slipping a twenty to the Maitre D' to get a good table. It is not necessary to slip it to them while shaking their hand. It is simply a common courtesy and should be handled exactly the same way you tip a waiter/waitress. Either add the tip to the bill with your credit/debit card, or place the cash on the hairdresser's station.
I am a stylist, and I can tell you that you can go about leaving a tip either on the bill at the font desk, Where the stylist usually has a slot for their service ticket/cash. Or you can go directly to the stylist and thank them and hand them the tip. You dont have to fold it any certain way. It seems that I get clients that are comfortable with me and they either leave it in my top drawer, or they leave it on top of my work area.
Hope I helped to answer your questions.
Try to have correct change when you go or, let's say your bill is $60, and you want to give her a $10 tip, ask her for change for a $20 and put the $70 in her hand and tell her how much you appreciate her/him.
Pass the money to her directly. Fold the bill, hand it to her, and say thank you.
When you're paying at the end, just give them as much as u want to tip plus what it cost and say keep the change
